Hunter Dane Johnson , beloved son of Mark & Lori and brother of Brielle, made an early arrival on February 17, 1992 & and departed too early on April 25, 2021.  There is no limit to the depth of our sadness.

He was born at Research Hospital in very dramatic style. We should've known this was to be his MO for his life!  Hunter was a happy, easy-going baby who grew into a wildly creative toddler & child.  Hunter spurned store-bought toys; he loved to make & create his toys & props for his ultimate stage role.  Halloween candy & being able to wear the costume afterwards for months was a huge highlight!

Hunter was a master of funny faces, following his sister's AND his father's footsteps, and had a wonderful sense of humor.  He was athletic, enjoying family skiing vacations in Colorado, team swimming & martial arts.

Hunter loved family time, going to Grandma & Grampas houses, the aunts' houses, time with all the cousins.  Family is what ultimately brought him home to Kansas City a year ago.

Hunter celebrated his confirmation in the church as a young man.

He attended Park Hill schools from Kindergarten through to graduation.  When Hunter moved to middle school, he became active in drama, participating in productions.  He had found his element!  Once he moved to High School, he became a Band Kid, playing clarinet by way of the infamous Oboe.  He absolutely loved to sing, & being able to combine the singing along with the acting was his happy place.  In addition, he helped in set construction, design & final touches.  Being able to see productions of "Wicked" on the Broadway stage & in Chicago was thrilling for him.  He knew the words to all the Broadway shows & would sing them at the top of his lungs.

A love for cooking had Mom sending him his favorite recipes & a lot of Gramma Steiner's as well.  Asian cooking & foods was his passion over the last few years, & he was a regular at the Asian market.

Hunter was a free spirit who made friends all over the country as he moved from place to place.  But, as Dorothy said in the Wizard of Oz, "there's no place like home."  We are thankful that he came home at the beginning of the pandemic & that we were able to spend precious time with him.

Hunter is survived by his parents, Mark & Lori; his sister, Brielle;  Gus & Ollie, his favorite puppies; his paternal grandmother Priscilla Johnson of Ft Worth, Texas; aunts, uncles, cousins and tons of friends who loved his sweet personality & humor.  Hunter will be missed beyond words.
