A Life Well-Lived
Iva L. Davidson was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on February 21, 1948, to her loving parents, Helen L. Black and Robert C. Black. At an early age, her family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, the city she would proudly call home. Iva received her education through the Kansas City, Missouri School District and was a proud graduate of Central High School.

A Child of God
Iva was a lifelong member of 35th Street Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her father, Rev. R.C. Black, where she accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She sang in the Choir and served on the Usher Board. She attended Sunday School regularly.

A Legacy of Dedication and Service
A hardworking and reliable woman, Iva dedicated 18 years of service to Ryder Transportation, safely driving and caring for students within the Kansas City area schools. Her professional journey also included time spent serving as a legal secretary, and she later brought her talents to the City of Kansas City, working in the Payroll department at City Hall until her well-deserved retirement.

A Heart for Others
Beyond her professional achievements, Iva’s true masterpiece was the love she shared. She was incredibly passionate about crafting, spending countless hours crocheting and knitting beautiful quilts, hats, and gloves for those she loved.

Iva possessed a rare and beautiful gift for giving selflessly. Her home and refrigerator were always open to anyone in need of food, drink, or comfort. She became a second mother to many of her sons' friends, loving and protecting them as if they were her own. Her door was always open, and her home was a safe haven where all were welcome, whether her sons were there or not.

Preceded in Death
Iva was reunited in eternity with her beloved parents, Helen and Robert Black; her precious daughter, Rytina Y. Alexander; and her dear brothers, Ronald Black and Donald Black.

Departed this Life
Iva L. Davidson, a beacon of love, kindness, and wisdom, peacefully departed this life, on Wednesday, October 14. 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Those Who Cherish Her Memory
She leaves to carry on her legacy of love her devoted sons, Kerrsean Holland and Eric Alexander, both of Kansas City, MO; her cherished grandchildren, Earllonzo (Nicole) Edwards, Brian (Tarlicia) Hall Jr., Joshua Crafton, Justin Holland, Chermyne Alexander, Kynlee Cook, and Jaelin Holland; 11 precious great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends.

Iva’s grand capacity to care for others, her gentle wisdom, and her boundless generosity will live on through the generations she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
