Jahmai Kenan Still was born SEPTEBMER 24, 1985.  He was born to the parents of James and Sonia, the 2 ^nd of three children.  Jahmai's name in Hebrew means, "May Jehovah Protect."  A name that would have more meaning than we could possibly imagine.  At birth, the nurses were amazed at how beautiful his eyes were and how long his eye lashes were.  Nurses over the years would always say that they were jealous over his beautiful eyes and lashes.

Over the years, he gained the respect and admiration of many health care providers – doctors, nurses, physical therapist, etc.  He left such a positive imprint.  All would agree and said they will never forget Jahmai.

On December 21, 1996, at the age of 10 years old, Jahmai was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, along with his older brother Michael.  A family friend sent us in a frame (she does a form of writing called calligraphy), back in the late 1990s, ISA 41:10-13, in part it says:

10 "DO NOT BE AFRAID, FOR I AM WITH YOU.  DO NOT BE ANXIOUS, FOR I AM YOUR GOD.  I WILL FORTIFY YOU, YES, I WILL HELP YOU, I WILL REALLY HOLD ON TO YOU WITH MY RIGHT HAND OF RIGHTEOUSNESS'…13 FOR I, JEHOVAH YOUR GOD, AM GRASPING YOUR RIGHT HAND, THE ONE SAYING TO YOU, 'DO NOT BE AFRAID.  I WILL HELP YOU.'

That scripture had and has special meaning to Jahmai and the family.  Jehovah has always been by Jahmai's side.  He has always protected Jahmai in more ways than the physical eye can see.

Jahmai loved Jehovah, even though the pain and suffering his physical body was going through.  And, just as importantly, we know that Jehovah loved Jahmai.

Someone who never met Jahmai, but heard about all of his endearing qualities, put it like this in a text, she said: 'He (Jahmai) is such an encouragement to me, and think of how Jehovah felt watching these things take place on him…wanting to step in and rescue him, but allowing him to prove his unshakeable faith, right to the end.  WE WILL SEE HIM SOON!!!'…

From a young age, Jahmai's unique characteristics carried his beautiful personality.  His genuine smile.  His loving ways.  His joking nature.  He was the total package when it came to a wonderful human being.  Jahmai was the type to give you the shirt off his back and joke with you the entire time while doing it.  He cherished every moment he spent with his niece, Journee.  Being with her since a newborn until his untimely passing, they developed a very close relationship, annoying each other and being each other's confidante at the same time.

There were very few in this life who were more knowledgeable, from bible scriptures, to historical events.  He was often told by his family to try out for Jeopardy lol.

Jahmai is survived by his parents James Still and Sonia; brothers Michael and Jahleel Still; and sisters, Scheri and Stephanie.  He has many family members and friends – aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces that he loved.

Services for Mr. Still will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 9, 2021, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Private Disposition.  Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. until service time at the chapel.
