Jamaal Rashaad was born on July 1, 1976, from the union of Ennis A. and Cherylle D. Johnson.  He departed this earthly realm on January 30, 2025, at Research Hospital.  Jamaal was preceded in death by his grandparents, both maternal and paternal, a nephew, Darius I. Johnson; and his father, Rev. Ennis A. Johnson.

Jamaal was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School District, where he attended Lincoln College Prep and Southwest High School. He was active at both schools where he played soccer, football and was in band.  Band is where he shined. He earned an Excellent Rated State Honor Award in percussion for multiple years for both Southwest and Lincoln.  Jamaal received his diploma from Southwest High School in 1994.  He was incredibly talented with music and music was his passion.  He had the ability to play both by sight and ear.  He then attended Missouri Western College where he majored in music performance and production.

While at Missouri Western College, Jamaal produced and wrote many original compositions.  He also wrote for, taught, and inspired his brother to be a musical producer and writer himself.  He got his eclectic musical palette from his parents and loved all music genres, from John P. Kee to Guns N Roses. Jamaal, being the eldest of the Johnson clan, was the road paver for his younger siblings.  His multi-faceted interests always spilled over to his siblings.  Jamaal inspired his siblings to always follow their dreams because he followed his.

Jamaal 's primary dream was to be a firefighter.  He attended the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Academy and graduated in 2007.  He was a firefighter until his departure in 2015.  Jamaal never met a stranger and prided himself on his devotion to the community, especially his love of kids and the elderly, where he cherished his work with LINC.

Jamaal's family always meant the world to him.  He left to cherish his memories: his mother, Cherylle D. Johnson; his cherished companion, Rose Munoz; siblings, Jamilla Johnson, Jabari (Kamaria) Johnson, Kahlil Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Akilah Alford, Linsey Johnson; and bonus sister, Tandra (Brian) Jones; cousin/brother, Eric (Monique) Harris; nieces and nephews, Cheryse Johnson, Dominic Johnson, Alaina Johnson, Naieem Alford and Evelyn Johnson; his additional family, Hugh "Country" Turner, Jr.; and his lifelong confidante, Monicka Brown; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
