On April 27, 1923, James Edward Brock was born to William and Effie Brock in Rome, Georgia.

James grew up and went to school in Rome, George. James started working at an early age to help provide for his family.

In 1941, James met the love of his life, Myrtle Burgess and joined the U.S. Army in 1942. James and Myrtle married in 1944 and had two sons Ronnie and Leroy Brock. Shortly after they moved to Kansas City, MO.

Once settled in Kansas City, James was a sheet metal worker at Gateway Luggage for 20 years. In those 20 years, James and Myrtle welcome four daughters Patricia, Kathy, Brenda, and Betty. After leaving Gateway Luggage, James began working at Metcalf South in Overland Park, Kansas as a Maintenance worker for 35 years.

James retired at the age of 92.

James departed this life on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Brock, father, William Brock, mother, Effie Brock, brother, William Brock Jr, sons, Leroy and Ronnie Brock. Granddaughter, Tamara Brock.

He leaves to cherish his memories his four daughters and son in Laws, Patricia Farmer and Husband Robert Farmer, Kathy Wiggins and Husband Wally Wiggins, Brenda Russell, Betty Weekly and husband Mark Weekly. two sisters in Madeline Hargiss and Margaret Legere and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Services for Mr. Brock will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel, Inc. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the chapel.
