James Thomas, Jr.'s Obituary
James Thomas, Jr., was born on February 16, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri to James and Mattie Thomas. He departed this life from earth to his Eternal home on June 14, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother Mattie Thomas; father James Thomas; four sisters Mattie Lee Chew, Jonnie Mae Lane, Rosie Lee Williams and Reverend Dorothy Mae King; four sons Albert Williams, George Washington, Joe Thomas and Ernest Thomas.
James Thomas, Jr. was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School district and was a graduate of Lincoln High School.
James accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and united with the Pleasant Green Baptist Church on June 18, 1993.
James was a man of many trades; he was employed in many positions including working in the warehouse and shipping department, upholstery work, and worked as a mechanic for many years. James loved dancing, and tinkering with cars, some of his hobbies were bowling and working out.
James enlisted in United States Naval Service June 14, 1946, while he was honorably discharged as Builder Third Class; he later re-enlisted in January of 1950, where he proudly served in World War II and the Korean War, he was very proud to serve his country.
While attending High school he was married to Barbara Nelson and to this union one son, James Thomas, III was born, James later remarried the love of his life, Anna M. Price and to this union one son Kevin Thomas was born and three daughters, Irene Thomas, Jamet Outlaw and Jamie Luster.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, James Thomas III known as "Little Jim" of Minneapolis, MN; and Kevin Thomas, Independence, MO; three daughters Irene Thomas of Kansas City Missouri, Jamet (Freddie) Outlaw of Raytown Missouri, Jamie (Veodist) Luster of Springhill, KS and a host of grandchildren; one great-grand daughter Essence Johnson; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services for Mr. Thomas will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 22, 2018, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel. Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the Chapel.
