James (Jimmy) Love , 82, of Kansas City, Missouri, left his earthly home and made his Heavenly transition on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

He was born on January 17, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri, the second son born to the union of Henry H. Love and Alice Tinson Love. Both parents, his only brother, Richard Love, and his oldest daughter, Cheryl Love preceded him in death.

He received his formal education in Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools. He graduated from Central High School (Class of 1958). James attended Avila University where he received his Associates Degree in Business.

James accepted Christ at the early age of 10 years old and was baptized on May 7, 1951 at Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of I.H. Henderson. He served as a faithful member for 72 years. He was a member of several ministries at church which included Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, Usher Board, Young Adult Choir, Junior Laymen, and Judah Sheepfold.

James was also a huge supporter of the Girl Scout Ministry. He was very active in helping the troop increase their cookie sales for several years. He enjoyed working with the leaders of the troop to help with the annual fundraiser. James also enjoyed being a member of the Trustee Ministry. He was a Trustee for many years doing whatever tasks were needed to help with the maintenance of the church.

James served in the United States Army, for two years, during the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge. He continued his career in the Federal Government for 52 years. He worked in the Federal Building for Social Security for several years before moving on to the Postal Service where he retired.

James loved his family and friends. He was united in holy matrimony to Violet Love on October 10, 1976. To this union, two daughters were born, Cheryl and Marissa Love. He enjoyed family and friend gatherings, reunions, bowling, football and watching a variety of sports. He was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan and season ticket holder for 50 plus years. James would always be at the Chiefs games during any type of weather. He dressed for the weather, took his radio, snacks and enjoyed every moment of the game.

James leaves to forever cherish his memories: his wife, Violet B. Love; one daughter, Marissa A. Love; one son, Ricardo Love of Stockton, California; three grandchildren, Camden Love, Justine Love, and Ricky Love, Jr.; three brother in laws, Howard (Fron) Ball Jr., Carlton Ball and Herman Ball of Memphis TN; five sister in laws, Peggy Ball-Coleman of Raytown, MO, Shelia A. Campbell of Kansas City, MO, Joyce Love of Independence, MO, Zefferia Ball and Carylon Ball of Memphis, TN; devoted cousins, Raechard (Rosalind) Brown of Raytown, MO, Phillip (Diane) Brown, Vincent Brown, Linda Carter, Stephanie Woods and Julia Jamerson all of Kansas City, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom will forever cherish his memory and miss him dearly.
