On November 21, 1957, a baby boy was born, James "Clayton" Nevels, to the union of Charlie Nevels, Sr. and Leatrice Kendrick Nevels in Augusta, Arkansas.

"Clayton" loved the Lord. He had been a member of Gathering Table Church for many years.

Clayton was a great family man. He did not have children of his own. He had numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved. He also helped raise them.  Clayton loved the Kansas City Chiefs, Western "Gun Smoke", and The Three Stooges.

Clayton attended Paseo High School.

Clayton started his work history at the Family Laundry Mate (C&L) as a Manager. He later become a Certified Nurse for a few years. Clayton worked at Harrah's Casino as a Chef for 6 years.  In his later years, he didn't sit still. He decided to volunteer at Cherita Brook House and volunteered at many other places in the Kansas City area.

Clayton was a laid-back person who loved everyone with A HEART OF GOLD."

His parents; two sisters, Charlene Founde and Dr. Jacquecola Lott- Smith; and two brothers, Gerald Nevels and Ralph Nevels, all proceed him in death.

James Clayton Nevels departed this life on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

James Clayton Nevels leaves to mourn his passing three sisters, Linda Lollis (Hilman) of Dallas Texas, Doris Busari of Tempe, Arizona, and Janice Nevels of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three brothers, Hubert Eugene of Kansas City, Missouri,  Irvin Dale of Kansas City, Missouri, and Leon of New York; longtime companion, Tammy Brown; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousin, relatives, and friends.
