Janice Irene (Bell) Slaughter, 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on July, 23, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas to Elder Alphonso and Delores Bell.  She was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and graduated from Southeast Missouri State College with a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Janice met and married Demetris Slaughter, January 1982, and to that union one son was born, Solomon Demetris Slaughter.  Janice devoted her life to working in the educational system in the Kansas City Missouri School District in which she taught for over 25 years.  Even after retiring in 2011, she remained close in the district working as a substitute and continued to participate in the Teacher's Union.

Janice accepted Christ at an early age and remained faithful until her death.  She attended Boone Tabernacle Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop E.L. Thuston.  There she worked faithfully as an Assistant Hospitality Director and Sunday school teacher.

While she was a soldier for the Lord, she was the family historian.  She was the oldest of the "Bell" kids, and a leader for Christ.

Janice leaves behind: her loving son, Solomon; daughter-in-law, Tiffany; granddaughters Mariah and Amaya'; grandson, Uzziah;  her mother, Delores Bell; sisters, Rosalind Jordan and Melanie Cochran; brother, Alphonso Bell Jr. and a host of relatives and friends. While we will miss you dearly, we know that you are resting in his Heavenly Arms with Dad. This is not a goodbye, simply a see you later.

Services for Mrs. Slaughter will be held 12:00 P.M. Saturday, April 25, 2020, at E. S. Eley & Son Chapel.  Burial Brooking Cemetery.  Visitation 11:00. until 12:00 P.M. at the chapel.
