Jason Key, 41, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on August 10, 2026. He was born on January 24, 1985, in Sheffield, Alabama.

Jason is survived by his wife, Simoline Key, from whom he was separated; his stepdaughters, Alexis Blankinship and Hannah Stenger (David Stenger); his mother, Brenda Key; his brother, Jeffrey Key; his sister, Corinna Key her husband, Marc Mackenzie; and his nephew, Cameron Key. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur E. Key; his maternal grandmother, Cora E. Loveless; maternal grandfather Jonathan  L. Loveless, and his uncles, Edward L. Loveless, Donald Key and Luther G. Key. Jason also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Jason had a zest for life and found joy in spending time with loved ones. Whether attending Royals baseball games or enjoying quiet evenings watching movies at home, he cherished the memories he created with those closest to him. Jason loved listening to music, singing karaoke, playing pool, dancing, and occasionally tried his luck at casinos. He also enjoyed fishing as a way to find peace and relaxation.

A man of faith and spirituality, Jason carried a treasured cross necklace and often turned to prayer for strength. He found comfort in reflection and reading from a religious app on his phone. His belief in grace and forgiveness was central to his life.

Jason’s legacy is one of laughter, love, and kindness. His ability to bring joy into any situation will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Junior Service League Clubhouse, 3122 South Crysler Avenue, Independence, MO 64055. Guests are invited to share memories as they honor Jason’s life. Food will be provided.
