John Edward Johnson was born on January 13, 1952, in Itta Bena, Mississippi to Limmie Mae Johnson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Limmie Mae Johnson and his brothers Dave Johnson and Bennie Johnson.

John received his education in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. After high school, he worked at Tension Envelopes for several years.

John was a faithful member of Gregg Tabernacle A.M.E. church until he was called home. He was an active part of the Supermen of Gregg, a trustee emeritus, and active member of the Sunday School Class.

He was very active with the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council for many years.

John Edward Johnson departed this life on April 20, 2018, at his home in Kansas City, Missouri.

John leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter Deborah Lee; granddaughter Essence Lee; Son-in-law Willie Smith, Deborah's mother, Jerrie; and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial Services for Mr. Johnson will be held 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 5, 2018, Gregg Tabernacle A.M.E. Church with Pastor Rev. Dr. Eraina M. Ross Aseme officiating.
