Johnnie Stephens, Jr. was born on August 13, 1942, to Killo and Annie Stegall in Colt, Arkansas.  Preceding him in death were his parents, Killo and Annie Stegall; two brothers, Odell and Wardell Love; and two sisters, Dorthea and Aritla Hannon; his wife, Madeline Stephens; as well as his beloved niece Felicia Hannon.

Johnnie graduated from Central High School.  Johnnie met and fell deeply in love with his soul mate and wife Madeline Stephens in 1957.  He courted her for four years and then married in 1962.  Their union was blessed with two sons, Larry and Michael Stephens, and one daughter, LaTonia Stephens.

Johnnie worked doing numerous things.  He started out working with his brother as a mechanic.  He then went on to Pepsi-Cola. From there, he found a career at Ford Motor Company.  He was dedicated to his job for 30 years until he retired.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends doing various things.  He enjoyed playing Bid-Whiz, Spades, and dominoes.  He loved cleaning his car, he didn't trust anyone else to do like him.  He enjoyed horseback riding, bowling, and working on cars.  Decorating the outside of the house for Christmas was his tradition and everyone looked forward to it.

He was a proud grandfather of two, Denzell Washington and DeVontaye Stephens, whom he loved very much.  He attended church with Madeline at Swope Parkway Church of Christ.  He enjoyed sitting on the porch mentoring the younger cats.  He loved cowboy movies.  He would sit with his son, Larry, and watch him all day.  He loved to travel for the holidays and vacations and he looked forward to Saturday morning breakfast at Denny's with his best friend Fred Burton.

He is survived by his three children, Larry, Michael, and LaTonia Stephens; two grandchildren, Denzell Washington, and DeVontaye Stephens-Jones; four great-grandchildren, DeVontaye Stephens-Jones, Jr., Hasani Jones, Iyana, and Aniyah Washington.  Along with a multitude more, as well as a host of family and friends.
