Katherine L. Morris-Dorsey was born May 11, 1932, in Gilliam, Louisiana to the union of Amos Morris and Annie Mae Byrd-Morris. She relocated in Kansas City, Mo at the age of 12. She attended school in the Kansas City, Missouri public school system and attended Lincoln High School. She was baptized at an early age and served on the mother board at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church.

Katherine was married February 6, 1953, to Nathaniel Dorsey and they celebrated 66 years of love until he departed earth. To this union, they shared seven children, five sons and 2 daughters. Katherine is best known for her love of cooking and sharing recipes. She loved her family and had a strong faith in the Lord. At any time, she would be a listening ear and provide her honest opinion. She was very active in her church. She was a housekeeper for over 30 years and was a treasured part of the Grandoff and Durwood families.

Katherine was proceeded in death by her husband Nathaniel Dorsey, both parents Amos Morris and Anne Mae Byrd-Morris, 2 sisters Essie Mae Washington and Bertha Lee King and granddaughter Gabrielle Dorsey. She leaves to cherish her memory, five sons Alvin Barnett (Sara) of Georgia, Nathaniel Dorsey Jr of Kansas City, Harold Dorsey (Cynthia) of Kansas City, Kevin Dorsey (April) of Kansas City and Timothy Dorsey (Yvonne) of Overland Park, Ks, two daughters Patricia Howard (Ernest) of Kansas City and Karen Dorsey of Kansas City. Grandchildren: Harold Jr (Tiffany), Dawan (Myesha), Autumn, Shaunta, Elisha, Aaron (Jameshia), Ernest III, Joandrea, Elise, Tim Jr., Tyrone and Tamisa a ton of great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
