Ms. Kathryn Elizabeth Moore was born on October 23, 1973, to the union of Ivory Lynn and Regina Faye Moore.  Kathy, as she was affectionately called, was the second child born to this union, and the only daughter.  Both of her parents, and her grandmother, Mrs. Daisy Stevenson, preceded her in death.

Kathy was educated in the Kansas City Public School District until her high school years.  At that time, her namesake and godmother (the late Mrs. Kathryn Elizabeth Mosley) sent her to private institutions.  She attended Tri-City Christian High School, and eventually graduated from Bishop Hogan Catholic High School in the great class of 1991.  After high school, Kathy attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri to pursue her bachelor's degree in accounting until her sophomore year. Kathy returned home upon her grandmother's passing in 1994.

Kathy was afforded many opportunities as a child.  She took piano lessons at the Conservatory of Music at University of Missouri – Kansas City, tennis lessons, and modeled in the J.C. Penney Department Store catalog.  Kathy was also very grounded and active in her faith and membership at Friendship Baptist Church, and she accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 9.  In church, Kathy was an active member of Children's Sunday School, Junior Church, Baptist Training Union, Junior Ushers, Junior Matrons Mission Group, Youth Choir, Youth Fellowship, Visions Young Adult Choir, Mass Choir, Adult Sunday School, Culinary Committee, and her Sheepfold. Kathy's infectious love for the things of God, her big, beautiful smile, and her love for jokes made her such a joy to be around at church always.

Kathy was as big on family as she was on God!  She loved her family dearly and would do anything to be of assistance to anyone in need.  Although Kathy never married nor had biological children of her own, she was drawn to her sister's children deeply.  She took in her biological niece, Harmoni, and raised her as her own when Harmoni was just 5 years old.  In 2009, Kathy was allowed to adopt Harmoni and continue raising her to adulthood.  Along with raising Harmoni, Kathy had a love for bowling, eating different cuisines, traveling, and especially her hometown Kansas City Chiefs Football Club!

After Harmoni left home to pursue her academic college career in 2016, Kathy took a leap of faith and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, to live out the rest of her life with her companion, Gabriel Cathey. Kathy had tenured employment with the "Metro" Bus Company (KCATA) in Kansas City, but in Louisiana, Kathy's career of choice was in the medical field.  She became an Emergency Room Admittance Desk Technician at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana, where she worked for years until her health declined.

Kathy will always remind us of special times we have all experienced with her.  She had a joke or a famous movie line for every situation!  Kathy will be remembered for her easy-going, laidback, and funny disposition – it was rare for her to have a bad day, even when she wasn't physically feeling well. She will also be remembered for her contagious laugh and her deep love for community.

On November 3, 2023, Kathy answered the call from the One who loved her most, her Abba Father God. Her soul has now taken its rest where there is no more suffering, sickness, sorrow, or pain. Kathy has been made free and whole!

She leaves to celebrate her life and mourn her passing: her daughter, Harmoni Moore; her siblings, Rufus Moore, Andre L. Moore, Sr. (Belinda), Shawnell Moore, Ivery Moore, Colby Lynn, and Taylor Lynn; her special friend, Gabriel Cathey; a host of nieces, nephews, and godchildren; many cousins, aunts/uncles, extended church family and many, many dear friends.

Services for Ms. Moore will be at 11:00am Friday, November 17, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church.
