Kevin Alan McClendon was born November 14, 1963, to the union of Itema and Dorothy McClendon. As an only child, he grew up between South Central, Los Angeles, and Kansas City, Missouri. In 1981, he graduated from Crenshaw High School and shortly thereafter, enlisted in the Army, which he was Honorably discharged from in 1988. After leaving the Army, Kevin began working for the US Postal Service, where he dedicated 27 years of service until his retirement in 2018.

Kevin was married to Monica Mallory and to this union LaTecia (TC) was born. He later married Martha Requena and to this union were three daughters; Shauntai, Keemarra, and Kayla. Thereafter, Kevin adopted Nadine. He was a loving father to his 5 girls and a dedicated grandfather to his 9 grandchildren. In his adult life, he accepted Christ and was a member of Providence House of Worship Church of God in Christ located in Kansas City, Mo. Kevin made sure to instill his faith and the power of prayer, in both his children and grandchildren. He always reassured his daughters that they had a praying Dad and could often be quoted saying "Pray about it and leave it to God."

He had a love for playing baseball and always held the hope of playing professionally. He also enjoyed listening to music while spending time with his friends and family. His greatest pastime, however, was cooking, especially his famous SQ's Barbeque, where "his sauce was the boss!"

Preceding him in death were his parents, Itema McClendon and Dorothy McClendon, and the youngest of his daughters, Kayla McClendon. Kevin leaves to cherish his memories his 4 daughters; LaTecia McClendon, Shauntai Curry, Keemarra McClendon (Daniel Jackson Sr.), and Nadine Ramirez. Nine grandchildren; Isaiah Young, Gabriel Garcia, Sydnee Hunter, Daniel (DJ) Jackson, Codah Elerbee, Ashley Garcia, Aubrey Jackson, Wyatt Martinez, Noah Jackson, his Aunts; Cora Porter, Neotris Johnson, Poniace Paige, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
