Lamar Dewayne Swift, (aka) Buddy was born October 15, 1971 in Holly Grove, AR, to Daisy Swift, the 7th of 8 children.   Buddy is preceded in death by his grandmother Lydia Swift, mother Daisy Swift, 2 brothers, Otis C Piggee and Carl Swift, 2 aunts Georgia Ladd "Sister" and Mollie Swift.  Buddy grew up in Holly Grove, spending many days in the candy store, throwing rocks and playing endlessly with friends and family.  Buddy attended high school in Holly Grove, where he played football and Basketball and graduated in 1991.  During his years in high school he would work hard in the fields, during the summer, to earn a dollar, something Buddy was extremely good at!  Once graduated, Buddy moved to Kansas City, leaving his hometown where he began his new career in cooking.  Working in several restaurants and nursing homes, Buddy perfected his lifelong career choice, one breaded into him through many cooking lessons from his Auntie, until 2009 when his career came to a halt after some health issues arose.

In 2009, was the same year that Buddy met his current wife Jacquelyn Shell.  In 2017, the 2 became married and have managed to accomplish assisting one another in raising 9 children between the 2 of them.

Due to health issues, Buddy was deemed unable to return to work and therefore retired early in 2009.  Buddy truly enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, their spouses, and his grandchildren. His most enjoyed times were spent with his brothers and sisters, family or friends cooking out or playing dominoes.  Listening to music, having fish fry's or watching wrestling and football with the boys!  He truly loved talking smack about the raiders and the chiefs.

To know Buddy, was to love him!  You would have truly believed he knew no strangers!  He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn Swift, five children and their spouses- Christian Hart (Amanda Hart) of Gardner, KS, Lamar "Boo Boo" Swift (Ericka Swift) of Independence, MO, Marshaun Swift of Lees Summit, MO, Omarion Swift of Kansas City, MO and Daisy Swift of Kansas City, MO.  Four step children and their spouses- Christian York(Lindsay York) of Osawatomie, KS, Mariah Shell of Monroe, GA, CJ Shell of Paola, KS and Dallas Shell of Independence, MO.  Grandchildren includes; Lorenzo Swift, Elaina and Elijah Shell, Katerina and Alaric York and host of other grandchildren.  He also survived by three brothers, Laymon Piggee of KCMO.  Morgan Piggee (Christine Piggee) of Orlando, FL, David Banks Orlando, FL.  Two sisters and brother in law , Etta Piggee of Grandview, MO and Rochelle Swift-Smith  (Charlie Smith) of Apopka, FL. A cousin "Auntie" and her spouse Vivian Crosby (John Crosby).  Also, many well loved nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, a host of cousins and classmates, 1991, that some were like family!

Funeral Services for Mr. Swift will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 2:00PM at Living Proof Church, 32401 Harmony Road, Paola, Kansas 66071.  Private Disposition.  Friends may call 1PM until service time at the church.  Dinner following funeral will be served at Living Proof Church.
