Larry Jay Blaylock Jr. , 62, was born in Olathe, Ks to Larry Jay and Janice Pauline Blaylock on March 15, 1961. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School. Larry had many childhood friends that would be by his side for a lifetime. He was always ornery, even as a young man. He was known as Buddy, and many still only know him this way. Larry had a strong bond with his grandmother so much you he would wait for her to get home so they could spend time together. Family and friends were everything to him.

Larry was a hard worker. He worked as a cook around Kansas City for years. Often, he had 2 or 3 jobs at a time. His life was never easy, but his smile and humor would never let it show. He loved being able to retire. He made some of the best tasting food around, and never missed the opportunity to feed someone. His plants were his children, and he had a LOT. He loved living in Kansas City, and you could see his passion for the city throughout his home. He was a Chiefs and Royals fan and loved a good tailgate!

Larry was the most thoughtful friend you could ever hope for. He remembered birthdays, would cheer you on no matter how small the achievement, and would befriend your entire family. So much he became family and loved being asked over for holidays. He preferred to call versus text, and always had a million questions. He would genuinely be concerned and listen.

To love Larry was to accept him, to cherish him, and to celebrate life more fully. To be loved by him was unmatched.  He was the sassiest protector. His friendship was truly a gift. He had a butterfly on his wall for each of his friends that had passed. It is now time for our butterfly to take flight. He would want us all to remember, "It's a good day to have a great day!"

Larry was a social butterfly. He was very active in the community. He was known for his sense of humor. You could catch him throwing darts or hanging out at trunk or cabaret shows at The Windjammer or at Buddy's.  he loved going to Side streets where several of his friends worked.

Larry danced his way into Heaven listening to Diana Ross, on Thursday November 16, 2023. He was surrounded by loved ones as he peacefully made his way.

He is missed dearly. Until we meet again, sweet friend. You were loved beyond measure.

He was preceded by his mother and Father, grandparents, and several friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories his sister Debbie Blaylock-Heinrich (Carl), nephews Kyle, Cal and CJ  Aunt and Uncle & a host of family and friends Dear friend Carmen Hutchinson.
