On Saturday, November 28 ^th Lavoska Barton Sr, loving husband and father of three children, went home to be with the LORD.

Lavoska was born on April 6, 1934 in Dalton, Missouri to Harvey Barton Sr. and Beatrice (Mann) Barton.  His family moved to Kansas City, Mo at an early age where he graduated from RT Coles High School in 1953.  On April 21, 1956 he married Juanita Josephine Reese of Kansas City, Mo and in April of this year they celebrated 64 years of marriage.  From this union they raised one son, Lavoska Jr and two daughters, Gisele Evette, and Alana Bene.

Using his carpentry talents sharpened in high school Lavoska owned a home remodeling business, and in addition to working alongside his father for a period he was also employed for a number of years with General Motors in Kansas City.

Known for his giving spirit, he shared his skill of carpentry and woodworking with his family, completing remodeling projects for many members throughout the years.  He was very artistic and creative, having built his own home and was adept at making tables and chairs as well.  He also designed an impressive Knives collection that had unique and stylish handles.  Lavoska had a knack for finding beauty in the simplest of things and using them in his projects.  His completed remodeling projects became works of art for many.

Lavoska was preceded in death by his father, Harvey, his mother, Beatrice, his brothers Leonidas, Hector, Howard, and Leo, and sisters Jane, Athena, Myrtle, and Lavola.  He is survived by his wife Juanita, his three children, Lavoska (Marilyn), Gisele Evette, and Alana Bene, four grandchildren, LeRon Lee, Brent Michael (Ciara), Lavoska III, and  Erika Nicole Marie; four great grandchildren, and brothers Harvey Jr. and Leslie.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Barton will be held 11:00 TO 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Swope Park Band Stand Shelter #1.
