Lemal Pierce Jr. was born November 14, 1956 at Bell Memorial Hospital at what is now K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.  The first child of Lemal Pierce and Loretta Wilkes-Pierce.  He passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Daughter Shawanda Marie Ford, father Lemal Pierce Sr., uncle Arnold Wilkes and grandmother Gladys White all preceded him in death.

A life long resident of Kansas City, Missouri, Lemal was raised at 3300 Olive.  His education included, Katherine B. Richardson Elementary School, Central Junior and Senior High School, and trade school where he earned his certification in Electricity.

He had a photographic memory and was gifted with his hands.  Lemal loved music and dance and played the drums with the neighborhood boys.  He worked at Ford Motor Company and on the Railroad.

Lemal was the first young black man in the area to purchase his own home, which he bought across the street at 3301 Olive.  He became a legend on that corner as he worked on his house and sat on his porch talking with passersby.  Lemal was adventurous and enjoyed lakes and fishing.  He traveled alone, spending time in Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, and finally Minneapolis.

Lemal is the father of eight children.  Left to carry the torch include, Andrea LeShawn Johnson, Tanisha Marie Johnson, and Gregory "T.J." Johnson (Ibonne) of Kansas City, Missouri.  Sherry Foreman, Sh'Kiena Foreman, Lemal Pierce III and Angel Foreman of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Family who also cherish his memory are his mother, Loretta Wilkes "A.K.A. Swt. Lo from K.C. MO", sisters L'Tanya Pierce, Loretta Wilkes II and Camille Pierce of Kansas City, Missouri.  Princess "Baby" Wilkes of Atlanta, Georgia and brothers Arnold Carrington Wilkes, Eugene Pierce and Jerry Pierce of Kansas City, Missouri.  In addition, he leaves grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation and Service will be held, 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Friday September 20, 2019, at Linwood United Church, 3151 Olive Street, Kansas City, MO 64109 .
