Leslie Juroy Barton Sr. , affectionately known as the "Five Star General", was born September 2, 1939, to the union of Harvey Barton Sr. and Beatrice (Mann) Barton in Dalton, Missouri. Both preceded him in death with one son, Antoan Taylor; five brothers, Leo Blackwell, Hector Barton, Leonidas Barton, Howard Barton and Lavoska Barton; and four sisters, Jane Greene Barton, Athena McFarland, Myrtle Morgan, Lavola Holliman; and special nephew, (like a son) Harvey Barton III. His family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, at an early age, where he graduated from Manual High School in 1958.

Leslie married Gloria Jean Mason and to this union, two children were born Leslie Juroy Barton Jr. and Chere Yvette Barton. This marriage was later dissolved. Leslie later married Stephana (Perkins) Barton to this marriage, one love son, Paul McKissick Jr., this marriage was later dissolved.

Leslie began his professional career at General Motors as a Maintenance Engineer for 12 years. Later, he retired and began his journey as a Professional Gambler and Entrepreneur as a store owner (27th and Indiana), a recreational facility (31st and Indiana), and also an After Hours Convenience store (38th and Prospect).  He was best known for being the life of the party on every occasion, a true social light in every sense of the word. He was blessed with the gift of gab, with encouraging words to share with everyone, he made sure he spoke what was on his mind and shared what was in his heart.

Leslie was an active member of Manual High School class of 1958 and attended many alumni events with his fellow class members. He enjoyed watching many types of sports such as golf, football, boxing, and western movies amongst many. His favorite pass times were playing bid wiz, dominoes, fishing, and his favorite genres of music were jazz and R&B. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family and loved ones.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Kevin Newton, Leslie Barton Jr., Paul McKissick, Jr.; his only daughter, (baby girl) Chere Walker (Jonothan P); grandchildren, Kevin, Kalia, Dion, Andre', Tevin, Susan, Mercedes, Danisha, Leslie, and Phillip Pernell, II, Jeffrey F. Walker; and 21 ½ great grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Barton Jr.; like a brother, Keith Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
