Leslie "Dean" Mitchell passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, at the age of 64. He was born to Phillip and Magnolia Mitchell on October 15, 1956, in KCMO. He was the 9 of 10 sons and the 16 of 19 children. Leslie attended Milton Moore Elementary School, Central Senior High and the Vo-Tech of Kansas City Missouri. It was there he fell in love with cooking, which propped him to get an Associate Degree and excelled in the Arts of Culinary.

He wanted to work and cook on a cruise ship but that dream was uprooted when water was thrown into the equation, therefore causing him to get and maintain jobs in his Art on land.

Leslie was very meticulous about his work and it showed up in his Presentation's whether or not if it was breakfast, lunch, dinner, or private affairs, Weddings, Christmas parties, or Championship Football games which were his favorites.

Leslie also enjoyed close friendship with those in the neighborhood in which he grew up with often calling and checking on them.

He had a very, very, very competitive nature. In high school he made the Varsity Football team, but after a new pair of football cleats and a hit from a defensive Lineman he knew that wasn't the sport for him. If you knew Leslie he was not a procrastinator, he didn't even wait until the game was over, he quit on the spot and walked off.

Leslie continued to like football but at a distance. He also enjoyed playing baseball, jazz, wrestling, and basketball where he became the neighborhood favorite despite of his height he arouse to the challenge and earn the nickname grasshopper because he could jump exceedingly high, and simultaneously earn the nickname mouse because of his speed, before Michael Jordan was known for sticking his tongue out and hardly missing a shot Dean already had that covered.

In the late 80's he moved to the State of Minnesota eventually meeting the love of his life they were able to travel a bit and learning about various cultures. He loved Kansas City family and friends but hated the Chief's, even though he moved to Minnesota he hated the Vikings as well, he became a Green Bay Packers fan after catering a party for the owner, the owner invited him to a few games and he's been a Packer fan ever since.

Both parents preceded him in death, one sister, Debra Mitchell, 3 brothers Lawrence Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, and most recently Carl Mitchell.

He leaves to cherish his memory: 14 brothers and sisters, Maruice (Nokufa) Green of South Africa, Herbert (Joyce) Mitchell Denver CO, Shirley (Lawrence) Strong, Anita (Clarance) Moten, Linda Mitchell, Teresa ( Dwayne) Stone all of KCMO, Marilyn (Russel) Hicks Fort Worth TX, Phyllis ( Fred) Day of Minnesota, Bonita (Steve) Mitchell of KCMO, Larry Mitchell of AZ, Ronald (Sylvia) Mitchell, Veron Mitchell of KCMO, Chaurita Mitchell of MN, Darryl (Toye) Mitchell of KCMO; a host, I mean a multitude of BIBICAL Proportion of uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers....last but not least the love of his life, Kim for the last 13 years who were by each other side through thick and thin, for better or worse, through sick and good health all the way until the last hospital ride...

Memorial Services for Mr. Mitchell will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.
