Marcus R. Benson was born on December 3, 1977 to the union of Richard Benson and Goldie Simpson in Kansas City, Missouri.  He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Goldie, his grandparents, twin brother Marco Benson and three sisters Rosemary Simpson, Shirley Benson, Joyce Benson.

Marcus was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District.  After high school, he started working various jobs. He eventually worked for the Hardee's Restaurant food chain. He moved into the position of shift manager.

On his days off in the summer, Marcus displayed his barbeque cooking skills.  He loved to spend time with his family and he loved to watch sports.

Marcus departed this life on Friday, December 30, 2022.

Marcus leaves to cherish his memories: Two daughters Marianna Benson and Deborah Benson, eight brothers Willis Simpson, William Simpson, Harold Benson, Larry Benson, Ryan Simpson, Corey Simpson, Montell Simpson, Kelly Crook all of Kansas City, Missouri; eight sisters: Jolene Simpson, Marsha "Marie" Crook, Evelyn Benson, Synthia McDaniel, Ophelia Simpson, Gwen Simpson, Sheila Simpson, Joyce Parksel all of Kansas City, Missouri; a host of relatives and friends.
