Margaretre Gillespie was born March 17, 1949 to C.H. & Augusta Sipho in Portageville, Missouri. She departed this life on September 12, 2022. She was the 7th of 12 children born to this union. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Augusta Payne, Wilma Lee, Anita M. Sipho, Maxine Sipho, John Shelton Sipho, Tyre Sipho, Robert Sipho, and Ernest Sipho.  Her surviving siblings a brother, Alex Sipho (Mary Sipho) and sisters, Mae V. Norwood, and Helen (Jeannie Baby) White.

Margaretre was the proud mother of 3 children.  Her son Anthony D. Gillespie and daughters, Dena LaChay Isom and Angela Kaye Crockett (Mose Andre Crockett).  Margaretre also had 8 grandchildren named Dustin Michael Gillespie, Denisha Lashawn Moore, Dominique Jerron Moore, Mose Lyndon Crockett, Jordan German Crockett, Anthony D. Gillespie Jr., Lennox Mattheus Crockett and Ferryn Ava-Ashley Crockett.  Margaretre has 4 great-grandchildren, Christian Alexander Caudle, Aniyah Demi Williams, CaRon DeSean Williams and Sage Michelle Gillespie Jones.

Margaretre was of the Christian Baptist Faith.  Worshipping God was a daily focus for her.  Prayer to her Heavenly Father was not just leading her daily activities but was on the forefront of her thoughts.  She often shared with her family and those she met memorized scriptures from the Bible. She encouraged others to pray and read the Bible.

Leaving Portageville at a young age and moving to Kansas City, Margaretre was hired on at Hallmark Cards Company in the Graphics Design Department after graduating from Emmanuel High School.  She retired from Hallmark Cards Co. after 33 years of service.

Margaretre had a very giving spirit and would often be one of the first to arrive to assist her friends and family in need.  She often gave of her personal resources to assist her family.  Those ill, whether friends or family, were greeted by her with fruit baskets and prayers of concerns.

Margaretre had several interests and hobbies. She was fulfilling her lifelong dream of "showing God's beauty by way of painting people, nature and still life".  She was our famous artist studying at The Kansas City Art Institute and Harry Fredman Art Institute.  She loved painting with different mediums on canvas specializing in oil portraits.  She also completed detailed pencil drawings and watercolor paintings. Over many years, Margaretre completed approximately 250 pieces displaying her work at numerous venues such as Jones Gallery and KC Art Coalition.  Margaretre won several nationwide art competitions including those at The Jack Reardon Convention Center.  She loved being part of meals and gatherings with family and friends.  Margaretre enjoyed spending time walking in parks and taking her grandchildren to different fun places.  Traveling brought on great joy for her to places like The Grand Canyons, The Bahamas, Niagara Falls and other locations.

Margaretre is so greatly missed by her family!

Psalm 91 "1: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  4: He shall cover thee with his feathers and under his wings shalt thou trust, 10: There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plaque come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."
