Marie Ann Gonzalez was born December 18, 1953, to Rufus R. Jones and Leona Mae Jones of Kansas City, Missouri.  She departed this life on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.  Her parents and two sons, Derrick D. Wade and Michael Wade preceded her in death along with her loving maternal grandparents.

Marie graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, MO.  She cared for her household while attending junior college.  Her passion for helping families developed into providing foster care for many over the years. She had a profound understanding of plant and animal therapy and it's benefits early on and exposed her family to a number of different pets and exotic plants on a regular basis.  Her pastime included the study of Astronomy and Greek Mythology.

Marie was a great mother who taught her children about life, to pray, become independent thinkers and cultivate self-love.  She was always full of energy and loved to sing, dance, cook and entertain guest.  Her funny stories would often fill a room with laughter!

Marie Ann Gonzalez leaves to cherish her memories, Dwayne Boyd her son; Lacy Boyd and Kizzie Jones her daughters; Jennifer Boyd niece; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a very special life-long friend George Boyd; Juan Gonzalez her estranged husband and a host of in-law siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates.

Services for Mrs. Gonzalez will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 20, 2021, at E, S, Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Friends may call from 12:00 P.M. until service time Saturday at the chapel.
