Marvin Franklin Smith, was born September 16, 1945, in Auvergne, Arkansas to Arthur Smith and Edoma Taylor Smith.  He accepted Christ at an early age.

Marvin graduated from Branch High School in Newport, Arkansas.

Marvin was married to Gwendolyn Joyce Payne for 48 years. To this union two children were born, Shawn R.  and Tonya Nicole.

Marvin was a veteran of the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army as a SP5 USAR and received an Honorable Discharge in August 1974.  He retired from Blue Hills Home Corp. and worked for KC Boyswear Company.  Marvin enjoyed renovating houses, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and relatives.

He departed this life November 4, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn J. Smith; parents, Arthur and Edoma Smith; sister, Willa French; two brothers, Arthur Smith Jr. and Edward Smith.

Marvin Franklin Smith leaves to cherish his loving memories: three children, Shawn R. Smith, Tonya N. Johnson and Derrick A. Cook (Beverly); three sisters, Irene Gray, Helen Bryant (Melvin) and Martha Hampton; one sister-in-law, Lareeta Robinson (Syvord) of Little Rock, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Cecily Hinton (Quinton Sr.), Tyler, Tisha, Miles, Keon Johnson, and Derrick II, Jeremiah, Kameron Cook; seven great-grandchildren, Quinten Jr., Melo, Tyla, Mazyah, Carter, Ka'Lani, Derion, and many other relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Smith were held Saturday, November 9, 2019, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Burial Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
