Mary Ann Bennett, affectionately referred to as Gan-Gan, passed away on December 26, 2020 at 5:27am after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 78 years old.

Mary was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 1 of 12 children born to the union of Sharon and Georgia Marie Kelly (both deceased). She is survived in death by Darlene Kelly (sister), Claude Kelly (brother) and Rashid Abdul-Salaam (brother), and a host of nieces, nephews, and one first cousin.

Mary was a devout matriarch to her family. She was a devoted mother to Rhonda Sanders and Kimberly (deceased) Sanders, a dedicated Gan-Gan to Shelly Sanders and Robert Sanders, and a committed great Gan-Gan to Ze'Shaun Tyreke Sanders, Konsta Monsta Myrick Jr., Sanders MaryAnn Myrick, Cameron Howard Sanders, and Terrill Prince Sanders.

Mary served as a unit clerk at Baptist Medical Center for 42 years. She was a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church for over four decades.  Mary was truly cherished by all that were fortunate enough to spend time in her presence. Her zeal for life and unconditional love for her family were unmatched. She will be forever missed.

Mary was preceded in death by James Bennett (husband), Kimberly Sanders (daughter), Shirley Marie Kelly (sister), Stella Birks (sister), Sharon Kelly Jr. (brother), Dorothy Jean Gentry (sister), Parthenia Kelly (sister), Floyd Kelly (brother), Katherine Kelly (sister), and Cheryl Kelly (sister).

Services for Ms. Bennett will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 3:00 pm at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel North.  Private Disposition.  Friends may call 2:00 pm until service time at the chapel.
