Mary Helen (Beck) Brackens, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri departed this earth on Sunday, January 26, 2020.  She was born to the union of Ceola and Johnnie Mae Beck on December 30, 1941, in Roaring Springs, Texas.  Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Estella Beck, brother, Willie Beck, aunt, Goldie Manley and nephew, Gregory Beck.

Mary Helen attended D. W. Wallace High School in Colorado City, Texas and graduated in 1958. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Colorado City, Texas where her father the Rev. C.C. Beck was the pastor.  She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri and married Eddie Brackens.  This marriage was later dissolved in divorce.  Mary Helen retired from Southwestern Bell after working 30 plus years.  She also worked part-time at Dillard's for several years.  After her retirement she returned to college to receive her Bachelor in Science in Psychology from Park University.

Mary Helen leaves to cherish her precious memory: her sister-n-law, Jessie Beck; nephew, Clifford Beck (Sheila); niece Stephanie Beck all of Kansas City, MO and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

Services and disposition for Mrs. Brackens were private.
