Mary Louise Lane was born on October 20, 1938 to Edward and Georgia Dwight at 2735 N. Premont, Kansas City, Kansas.

Her father Edward J. Dwight was on the championship Kansas City Monarchs Baseball team from 1928-1929 and again from 1933-1936. The Monarchs had national recognition in the Negro Leagues Baseball.

She attended Ward High School. She was 43 ^rd in a class of 300. She was in the National Honor Society and graduated with honors in May, 1957.

Mary met Billy Lane. On July 5, 1958, they married at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. This union lasted for 57 years until Billy's death on April 15 ^th , 2015.

To this union were born 5 children. Pam Haney (Louis), Martin Lane, Cynthia Lane, Alexander Lane, and Eleanor M. Ward.

She leaves 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mary learned the truth of God's word and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on February 22, 1961 and associated with 8 different congregations in her lifetime. She was a regular pioneer for 20 years and was faithful until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her grandson, Vaughn Ward; and her son-in-law, Christopher Ward.

Mary leaves her brother, Ed, the first black in the NASA program, her sisters Rita Dwight, Theresa Jones, and Elizabeth Chow (Charles).
