Mathie Lee Cole was born December 9, 1935, to Will Cole, Jr. and Annie Mae Mills in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He served in the United States Navy during The Korean War. Mathie married the mother of his children, Dorothy Cole Wilson at a young age.  He moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1995, residing with his family.  He loved spending time with family and attending Friendship Baptist Church.  He worked for Flying J Trucking Company for 23 years and retired at the age of 83 years young.

Mathie was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Matthew Cole and Charles Cole; and three siblings: Ceoria Horton, Jessie Wallace and Willie Ray Cole; his lifelong friend and former wife, Dorothy Cole Wilson; and a granddaughter, Felicia Cole.

Mathie transitioned to the spirit realm on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, in Independence, Missouri.

His memory will be cherished by: his daughters, Sheryl Cole, Theresa Surry-Smith (Purvis), and Pamela Breakfield (Roderick); sons, Rodger Cole all of Independence, MO, and Anthony Ford (Natalie) of Grand Prairie, TX; sister, Daisy Brown; brother, James Cole (Deborah), both of Shreveport, LA; daughters-in-love, Gloria Cole and Wanda Faye Cole; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Services for Mr. Cole were held Saturday, December 28, 2019, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tony Johnson officiating.  Burial Blue Ridge Lawn Cemetery.
