Melvin Ervin "SKEETER" passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 13, 2024.  He was born on March 10, 1929.  Melvin joined the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He later received a Captain License and a Pilot License.  He met the love of his life, Loretta Campbell, and was married for 68 years.  They had five children.

Melvin was an avid fisherman and loved traveling.   He worked as one of the first Chimney Masonry in Kansas City.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Vernie and Mary Edna Ervin; son, Steve Demetre; daughter, Cindy Martin; son, Jeff Ervin; daughter-in-law, Marcia Roberts; and son-in-law, Richard Martin.

He leaves behind his wife, Loretta Mae Ervin; daughter, Christy; son-in-law, Keith Fowler; son, Marty Ervin; and Paula Béaty. Grandchildren, Matthew Demetre, Darcy Demetre Hill, (Dan), Alyssa Roberts, Richard Martin, Brian Martin, Jessica Eagle, Blake Fowler, Lance Fowler (Stacey), Amy Ervin Russell (Jeremy), Kelly and Tony Ervin; and numerous great-grandchildren, whom he adored.
