Michael Dwaine Mason-Bey , son of Felix Mason and Catherine Mason, was born September 9, 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri. Mike is the third child born of eight siblings: Felix Jr., Robert, Linda, Perry, Lois, Leonard, and Gregory.

In his younger years, Michael attended Westport High School and the Kansas City Vocational Technical Center (Vo Tech).  Mike also had a passion for music. He would direct that love of music to DJ parties and gatherings. With a passion for cooking, Mike directed this love and developed various ways of making chicken the star of the meal.

Mike found the love of his life at the Vo Tech. Mike locked eyes with Kim Hardin. Mike and Kim's love would grow into marriage in 1976. Their union brought them three lovely children: Michael Mason Jr., Lonell Mason, and Latiefa Mason. Mike and Kim are blessed with grandchildren: Sydey, Sanaa, Michael W., Lonell Jr., Rayven, Rayvon, Soraya, Donnell II, Deion, Diamond, and LaRiah.

Awaiting to greet Michael in passing to the spiritual realm are both parents, Felix and Catherine Mason and two brothers, Felix Jr. and Robert Sr.

He leaves to mourn his memory: their only living aunt Mary Arnold, his loving siblings, his children and grandchildren, a host of other family and friends like Kadijh Cooper and others.

Mike was blessed with sixty-seven years to be with family and friends.  He passed away peacefully Saturday, August 10, 2024.

We love him and will miss him very much.
