Michael Ivan Newsom was born on December 27, 1954, to Glenn Doris Clark and Marvin Cass Newsom Sr.

Michael was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. Upon completion, he took on the role of a security guard until he retired.

Michael decided, during his older years in life, that he wanted to walk by Faith. He accepted Christ into his life and became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He would walk and catch the bus all over with his Bible to preach the word of God to others.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Doris Clark and Marvin Cass Newsom, Sr.; and his brothers, Marvin Newsom Jr., Dewayne Newsom, Ronald Newsom, Kevin McKeithen, and Lee Anthony McKeithen.

Michael departed this earth on February 21, 2026.

He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Michael I. Riley, Sr. and Tashana Bedford Lowery (Jonathan); eight grandchildren, Michael I. Riley, Jr., La'Shana Torello (Vincent), Thomas Jones Jr., Malik Riley, Keelan Jordan, Mikyas Riley, and Kordel Riley; seven great-grandchildren, Mar'Chyla, Micheal III, Kanaan, Kamden, Amira, Ariye, and Anyla; stepmother, Sandra Newsom; three brothers, Melvin Newsom (Yvette), Reginald McKeithen, Bobbie Bushnell (Joslyn); two nephews, Ronald Newsom (Stephanie) and Brandon Lewis (Katrina); one niece, Rochelle Gram (Mike); a special friend, Anna Daniels; and a host of extended family and friends.
