On January 11 ^th , 1985, the son rose over beautiful Jamaica…..Humanity and the earth were blessed when Ms. Norma Henry of Lindsted St Catherine gave birth to a bubbly bouncing boy whom she named Michael Smith. And as is routine in the Caribbean Islands, a number of alias followed Michael…Mikey, Biyah or Indian were just a few of names that followed him.

As nature would have it, Mikey was his mother's only child. However, he grew up as an integral member of an extended family where he was loved, admired and adored. From an early age, he seemed to be an inquisitive and adventurous child and maybe because he was an only child, he took a keen interest in just about everything that surrounded him.

From that observation and his humble upbringing, those of us who were fortunate to have known Mikey and/or crossed paths with Mikey during his earthly sojourn, would now realize why he was such a quick learner and could grasp ideas and concepts instantly and was a master at everything he did or even attempted to do.

Mikey was indeed a jack of all trades and a master of all trades. He would have gained certification as an Electrical Technician and we all know of his love for music and his comprehensive knowledge of sound systems in vehicles….. he was a gifted auto mechanic and an excellent auto body repair man…he was also a very reliable, efficient truck driver, moving containers for Walmart and other companies throughout the Midwest…He had a passion for motorcycles and for just about anything that moved. Mikey even enrolled and had intend to start flight lessons to become a pilot and there is no doubt that he would have succeeded not only as a pilot but would have been able to repair the airplanes as well.

Those were just a few of the characteristics that would have defined Mikey of a very industrious…a very ambitious, caring and loving human being.

Mikey was a family oriented individual…he loved his family, immediate and extended. His mother, Norma; his aunts, Ruby, Tenn and Cherry; and his uncles, Douglas and their families. His fiancé, Sammoya Johnson (Sam); and his daughter, Mickella Samira Smith (Kell); his only child were the apples of his eyes. He loved them so much …he loved them unconditionally… and it is believed that he would have sacrificed his life so that they (his mother, his daughter and his fiance) who were in the vehicle with him are alive today.

What a loss... what a pain...our hearts are broken…gone too soon, but we will never live long enough to forget the impact, the love and influence that Mikey has left us with.….you are gone but will never be forgotten…your memory will forever live on with those of us who knew and loved you…Rest in perpetual peace our dear and beloved Mikey.

Funeral Services for Mr. Smith will be held at Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 2:00PM at E. S. Eley and Sons Funeral Chapel.  Burial Smith Family Cemetery St. Catherine, Jamaica.  Friends may call from 12:00PM until service time at the chapel.
