Mollie Simpson, 94, of Kansas City, Missouri, transitioned to her heavenly home surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.  She was born April 13, 1926, in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, to the late Joe and Margaret (Williams) McCorkle.  Mollie was 2 ^nd of 9 children.  Both parents preceded her in death.

Mollie received her education in the Tallahatchie County, Mississippi Public School System.  While in school Mollie gained life skills such as cooking, and crafting that helped shape her into the beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother we all knew and loved.

Mollie moved to start a new life for herself and her daughter.  She came to Kansas City, Missouri in December, 1957.  Mollie's quest for a better life inspired her siblings to then follow her.  Upon arriving in Kansas City, she gained employment at Wheatley Nursing Home and later gave over 20 years of service to Truman Medical Center as a Dietary Aide until she retired in 1988.  Upon retiring from Truman, she served as a volunteer at Della C. Lamb Childcare Center as a Foster Grandparent where she nurtured and cared for hundreds of children.

Mollie married Lincoln Simpson, Jr. in August, 1963.  They enjoyed traveling together, spending time with family and friends and learning about the Word of God.  They both served in various compacities in their home congregation, Roswell Church of Christ in Kansas City, Kansas until Lincoln's sudden death in July, 1996.

Mollie had a strong sense of purpose, especially in her role as the Matriarch of her family which she took great pride in.  She was notorious for her selflessness, encouraging words and playful banter.  Mollie's attitude and smile were infectious and drew people to her.  She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 Woman.  Mollie enjoyed road trips with family, cooking, weekly shopping outings with her daughter and reading the Bible.  She would often be found humming her favorite hymn:  "Mansion, Robe and Crown."  Her love for Christ and family carried her through until her final transition.  Mollie's legacy is one of unsurpassed love and respect from all that knew and loved her.

Mollie was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Lincoln Simpson Jr.; Son, John Poole; Grandson, Felix O. Lyles III; Sister, Mary McCorkle; and 3 Brothers, Bob, Tom and Arrie McCorkle.  She leaves behind to cherish her memories: Loving Daughter, Lula M. Lyles of the home; 2 grandchildren, Daria M. Lyles-Lugo and Micheal F. Lyles both of KCMO; 6 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Joann Orr of Enid, MS and Fannie M. McCorkle Ruff (Lonnie) of KCMO; Sister in Law, Georgia Taylor of Houston, TX; 2 Brothers, Joe Lee McCorkle (Alma) of KCMO and Lewis McCorkle Sr of Oakland, CA; God-son Willie Sanderson of KCK; close friends, Mollie and Willie James Hamilton of KCMO and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mollie's unconditional love and support were and will continue to be an inspiration to all generations.

Services for Mrs. Simpson will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14, 2021, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the chapel.
