We regretfully announce the passing of Muriel Price Long (nee Harland) of Kansas City, Kansas, by way of Missouri, on December 26, 2022, at the age of 84. Muriel was surrounded by family and passed away peacefully.

A loving and dedicated mother of six, Muriel was born on January 12, 1938. Described as a bundle of joy, laughter, truth and love, she was the second child of six children born to Letha Harland (nee Payne) of Kansas City, Kansas and George B. Harland of Little Rock, Arkansas. Muriel graduated from Sumner High School in 1956 where she was remembered as being very popular. Throughout her high school years she was active in several organizations, including the Horizon Club and Y-Teens.

Muriel was passionate about nursing. After high school she attended the Kansas University's Florence Cook School of Nursing in 1958 where she graduated with a certificate in licensed practical nursing. From there she went on to successful careers at the Kansas University Medical Center, St. Margaret's Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital. Muriel retired from nursing in 1999 after 25 years as a school nurse.

She is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Long, ex-husband James Lee Price, Sr., parents George and Letha Harland, her eldest brother Eugene W. Harland, granddaughter Terica Price, great grandson Kareem Nelson, Jr., Nephew Bernard Harland, Jr., special friend Donald Bean, special sister, Sherry Walton of Detroit, MI, and special daughter Chita Bean.

She leaves behind five daughters and one son: Michelle Denise Parnell (Mark) of Clinton Township, MI, Ethel Mae Price (Lee), James Lee Price, Jr., (Sheila), Lisa Elaine Price, Cynthia Lynn Price and Eva Marie Smith (Mike), all of Kansas City, MO; four siblings: Shirley Mae Harland (Mary Jane), Gloria Moore (Leonard), Bernard Harland (Rebecca), all of Kansas City, KS, and Ronald Harland, Sr. (Patricia), of Leawood, KS; eight grandchildren: Shurlonda Price, Tiffany Price, Taiasha Price, Crystal Price, Annesyka Price, Latasha Clark, Rakeisha Price and Jordan Price, all of Kansas City, MO; 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services for Muriel will be held at her home church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church located at 2200 Olive Street, Kansas City, MO, 64127.
