Norma Jean Turner was born on January 23, 1946, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the union of Curtis Key and Nealie Mae Key.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.

She was preceded in death by both parents; and three brothers, Curlee Key , Raymond, Key, and Eric Key.

This sweet and classy lady, known by close family, as Jean, or auntie Jean had graduated from Merrill High School in 1964.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music in 1969 from AM&N College, now known as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB).

Singing and directing music was her greatest passion. She sang and directed every moment she got the chance. She loved performing "The Messiah" in her soprano voice in her college days.

She loved devoting her time to worshipping and praising God with family and friends. She always enjoyed singing in many choirs during school and church functions, singing a variety of songs and solos throughout her life. She loved teaching music and also taking piano and guitar lessons.

In the early 70s, she moved to Kansas City Missouri to pursue a career with the Kansas City School District teaching vocal music to middle school and high school students for 33 years at various schools throughout the city. She was loved by all her students and faculty, but was ready for early retirement.

On January 15, 1982, she married the love of her life, George Turner, whom she leaves behind. They spent 42 years with each other traveling and spending time together with many family and friends.

She has a plethora of family and friends that she loved deeply and they loved her as well. She leaves behind her only daughter, LaJuana Jean Robinson, whom she gave birth to on May 10 1971, in union with Roy Jackson Sr. Her favorite son-in-law, Jackie Robinson, Jr.; three beautiful grandchildren, Ciera Jackson, Rishaad Jackson and Jaclyn Robinson; and four adorable great-grandchildren, Oasis, Osiris Alyssa and Jerry, whom she cared for shortly before her passing.

On January 15, 2024, Norma was called home to be with Jesus. Her soul was taken to where there is no more suffering, sickness, sorrow, nor pain.

Norma Jean will always remind us of special times we have all experienced with her.

She leaves to cherish her memory two (2) brothers, Louis Key (Wanda Key) of Redfield, AR and Pastor Robert (Carol Key) of Pine Bluff, AR; five (5) sisters, Patricia Ann Key, Iwillie Ballard, Joyce McDonley (John McDonley), Marcella Nesbit, Tracy Key all of PineBluff, AR; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends.
