Norvell J. Gordon was born March 11, 1946, here in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 4:08 P.M., with his sister by his side, at Truman Medical Center.  Norvell was the second child of his mother Ida and the only son of his father Thomas.

Norvell accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Father Alvin Deen and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri.  He received his education, in part, in both the Catholic School and the Kansas City, Missouri School Systems.

Norvell was a unique, caring and giving person who embraced hard work in any endeavors he undertook.  This was most noted in his work as the supervising cook at the Salvation Army Residential Center in Kansas City, Missouri, from which he retired.  As such he received recognition for his culinary skills both city-wide and throughout the Salvation Army Organization.

Norvell was preceded in death by his brother, Donald; both his parents and grandparents, Hattie and Luther, who raised him and his siblings from their early childhood into adulthood.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his puppy companion, Killer; his sister, Ollie (William) Cage and niece Shawna of Kansas City, Missouri; nieces Connie and Lesli of Illinois.  Special acknowledgement of Michelle and her sons, as well as, a host of family and friends both local and out of state.

Memorial services for Mr. Gordon will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Private Disposition.
