Paul Tolan Miller, 84, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018, in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was born January 25, 1934, and raised in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.  He attended the University of Pennsylvania on a music scholarship where he was roommates with Thurgood Marshall's nephew.  Paul also attended Lane College on a football scholarship graduating with honors and was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.  He graduated from the University Of Wisconsin Law School.  Paul was the first African American Prosecutor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and in 1968, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, accepting the federally appointed position as Direction of Legal Aid of Missouri.  He was licensed to practice law in Wisconsin and Missouri and practiced law in Missouri for approximately 58 years.  Paul received numerous professional awards and served on various boards.

Paul received Christ at an early age and was active in church.  He loved the Lord, his family, the law; he also loved to read, corny jokes and loved oatmeal cookies without the Raisins.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Matt Edmontson Miller; his parents, Percy and Ida Miller; his siblings Ralph Miller, Carl Miller, Edith Pernsley, and Mildred Ferrera.

He is survived by: his wife, Gwendolyn Fisher Miller; his children, Kevin Stanley (Diane) Miller, David

Scott (Stephani) Miller, Paula Shirley Pierce, and Rosalind Fisher; grandchildren, David Scott Miller, Jr., Jullian Matthew Miller, Paul Christopher Pierce, II, Faith Davis LaNae Miller, and Lauren Shirley Pierce; his close cousins, Jimmy Watson and Barbara Bonaparte and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial Service for Mr. Miller will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church, 5144 Oak, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.  Private Disposition.
