The faith-filled, feisty, and loving Paula Jean Wells was a pillar of light to her family and friends. Born on June 13, 1948, to the union of Virginia and Alvin Lockett Sr. in Shreveport, Louisiana.

After moving to Kansas City at a young age, Paula met and married her high school sweetheart, Singleton Wells, Sr. who both attended Manuel High School. To their union, four children were born.

In 2010, after 20 years of dedicated service, Paula retired from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department. Known fondly as Ms. Wells, many adored her for her unwavering devotion to her family, particularly her grandchildren. She cherished waking up early to send loving good morning texts to her children and grandchildren, ensuring they felt her love each day. Always ready to lend a helping hand with school pickups. She never missed a beat.

Paula accepted Christ at a young age. She taught her children about faith. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Landmark Deliverance since 1996, under the leadership of Bishop John L. Brown Sr. Her loyalty to her faith was unquestionable, and she imparted her spiritual wisdom to her children.

Talented in many areas, Paula's presence was always felt, whether she was tending to her plants, sewing, drawing, gardening, or shopping. Her advice was sought and valued, as she always spoke her mind with sincerity and care. Despite her petite stature, she possessed a formidable strength and spunky spirit that left a lasting impression on those around her.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her daughter, Sharon Drone; and six siblings. To know Paula was to love her.

She leaves behind a cherished legacy and memories with her children, Sherrie Wells-Cornelius, Sharrise Roby (Marquis), and Singleton Wells Jr. (Joy); her beloved grandchildren, Reginald Cornelius, Jr., Elgin Hurd, Tyra Northcutt (Justin), Tyrone Drone (Elizabeth), Marquis Roby Jr., Matthew Roby, Madison Roby, Singleton Wells III, Seven Jackson-Wells, and Elite Wells; and her great-grandchildren, Karter Cornelius, Reginald Cornelius III, Elissa Drone, Titan Drone, and Jaxon Northcutt.

Paula is also survived by her siblings, Virginia Ann Jackson, Donna Smith, Billy Haislip, Brenda Daniel (Richard), Belinda Haislip, Lyndon Lockett, Pauletta Haislip; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Her determination as a mother was indisputable. Her dedication to her children and grandchildren was undeniable. Her love stood tall, unyielding, and boundless. Paula J. Wells will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who knew her
