Pearlie Mae Ross (Higgins) , "Pearl", was born April 11, 1939, in Eudora, Arkansas, to the union of J. Dewey and Martha (Brown) Higgins.  She was raised in a large and loving family, where she learned the values of faith, love, togetherness and hard work.

Pearl received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior early in life, and was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  She later joined Fellowship Baptist Church; both of Kansas City, MO.  Through the years, her faith in God was an increasingly important part of her life.

She grew up on the family farm in Eudora, Arkansas.  She married and started a family at a young age.  She later moved to Peoria, Illinois, then Kansas City, Kansas before settling in Kansas City, Missouri, where she resided until 2018 when she relocated to Griffin, Georgia.

She continued her education and received her degree in Practical Nursing in the late 1960s.  She had a great work ethic and enjoyed caring for her patients.  She worked at St Luke's Hospital and Swope Ridge Nursing Home.  The majority of her LPN career was in Private Duty nursing before finishing her work-life as a Visiting Nurse for Bethlehem Home Health Care, where she was a champion and advocate for her clients.  She retired in November 2018.

Pearl cherished and nurtured her relationships with her family, extended family, and many friends.  She enjoyed keeping in touch to check on how you were doing, to be an encouragement, as well as to be a help and a listening ear.  She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing one of her yummy meals at her table.

She married Emmett F. Ross in 1982.  He preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Anthony Jones; grandson Justin Williams and siblings; Essex Higgins, Johnny Higgins, Rosie Johnson, Cora Coleman and Ethel Gardner.

Pearl was also a tireless mother who loved and cared deeply for her children.  She leaves in the loving care of God: Charles E Jones (Ellena Harlin), Mowetha Ndettei (Jonathan), Annando Jones (Jane), LaFelda Jones, Regina Jones (Derrick) and Leon Jones; as well as 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The strength-of-purpose and fortitude of her love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

We miss you dearly Pearlie Mae Ross.  Rest now our beloved.
