Perry Lee Smith was born to the union of Dora Mae Roberson and Leon Smith in Atlanta, GA June 15, 1952.  He was the 2nd of 5 children.

Perry was educated in the Atlanta Public School System.  He graduated from Frederick Douglass High School and attended Morehouse College and Morris College of Sumpter, South Carolina.

Perry served in the United States Air Force with the Pride of an American Airman where he received an Honorable Discharge.

January 7, 1972, Perry married his high school sweetheart Linda Ann.  To this union, 2 children were born.  In October 1985, due to a job transfer Perry moved his family from Atlanta to Kansas City.

Perry and his family became members of Gethsemane C.O.G.I.C. under the Pastoral ship of A.L. Scott where he served as a choir director and Deacon.  He later returned to Gethsemane C.O.G.I.C. Center of Hope under the pastoral ship of Daryl D. Randolph Sr. where he diligently worked in the Men's Department as a Sunday School teacher until his health began to decline.

Perry loved to sing, fish, play checkers, watch westerns, fix cars, cook and spend time with his family.  He was a wise man that believed in teaching his legacy the importance of being self-sufficient.  Sales, Finance and Business Management were his specialties but he was truly a Jack of All Trades and the "go to" person if you had a question about anything.

Papa was preceded in death by his mother, Dora Mae Smith; his father, Leon Smith; his so- in-law, Augusta Terry and his best friend and brother-in -law, Tony Lee Coleman Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his girlfriend of 47 years, Linda Ann Smith; two daughters, Tiffany Terry-Moore (Rickey) and Patisha Randolph; four grandchildren, Austin Terry, Paris Terry, Kendyl Randolph and Peyton Randolph (all of whom he affectionately called by number); three brothers, Michael Smith, David Smith and Leroy (Lee) Smith; two Sisters, Marsha Smith and Brenda Coleman; his three hearts, Julia Coleman Delery, Tony Coleman Jr. and Kimberly Coleman Black and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, friends and church family.

Services for Mr. Smith will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Gethsemane Center of Hope.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the church.
