Phillip Lawrence McConnell was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 17, 1941, to the union of Charles L. McConnell and Alberta Roberts McConnell. He departed this life on February 9, 2024.

Phillip was preceded in death by both parents; grandparents; his wife, Diane McConnell; four brothers, Charles McConnell, Gilbert McConnell, Orrin Keith McConnell and Ronald McConnell; two sisters, Ada Ruth Holley and Lela Jeanette Gordon; granddaughter, Alexandria Peters; and grandson, Anthony C Funches.

Phillip was educated in the Kansas City Missouri school district attending Douglas Elementary and R.T. Cole High School. He worked at Bogden Candy Company for many years and retired.

Phillip was a great man, great father, and great provider. His favorite saying was "I'm Pimpin Phil, never worked - never will" because he made being a hard worker look easy, and he always took care of his family. He loved his children and family very much. He loved to cook and was GREAT at it. He was always joking around, cracking jokes, and having fun. He loved to go junking. He loved music and working on cars and especially Ford trucks.

Phillip will truly be missed. Like the song by Frank Sinatra "I did it my way", he definitely lived his life the way that he wanted to and Phillip did it his way. Rest easy.

Phillip leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Alisa Ford of Manhattan KS, Lisa Funches and Phyllis Funches of Arlington, TX; three stepdaughters, Stephanie Peter, Pamela Dupriest of Kansas City, MO, and Tracy Funches of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Barbara Allen and Violet Watts; one brother, Charles Watts, all of Kansas City, MO; 30 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many friends.
