Purvis Smith the youngest child of Alma (Clark) Smith and Finas Smith, Sr. was born January 25, 1963, in Kansas City, MO. Both parents preceded him in death.

Purvis was born, raised and attended school in Kansas City, MO, graduated from Van Horn High School in 1981.

He proudly served in the United States Army and held various responsible positions throughout his career.

Purvis united in marriage with Theresa Surry in 1996.  One child, Matthew Smith, was born to this union.  Purvis was a loving and supportive husband, father, brother and friend.  His smile, laughter and warmth was uplifting to everyone he encountered.

Beautiful memories of Purvis will be cherished by his: wife, Theresa Smith; Children: Benjamin Surry, Jr., LaToya Surry, Richard Smith, Damian Smith, Matthew Smith, and Payton Bean; sister, Mae Helen Brewington; brothers; Billy Clark, Leonard Clark and Finas (Artic) Smith, Jr.; sisters-in-love, Sheryl Cole, Pamela Breakfield (special friend, Rod) and Gloria Cole; brothers-in-love, Rodger Cole and Anthony Ford (Natalie) and a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Smith will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Friendship Baptist Church.  Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery Friday, August 27, 2021, 11:00 A.M.  Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the church.
