Queen Ester West, also known as "Tic" by her family, was born on January 14, 1946. She was loved and raised by her parents, Freddie Lee and Laura Faye Blackman.

Queen moved to Kansas City, MO in 1959. She received her education in the Little Rock, Arkansas, and the Kansas City, Missouri, School Systems. Queen graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City in 1964. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of The Good Shepherd Mission Church for many years under the leadership of Pastor Robert Frerking.

Queen Ester met and married Alexander West Sr.  To this union, five children were added: Alexander Jr., Zandria, Erica, Alisandria, and Anthony. Babygirl, LaToya, would be born some years later to Queen and Paul Whitebear.

Queen was employed for many years at Advance Security. She had a passion for gardening and definitely had a green thumb. She loved doing her nails and served as her own nail technician. She enjoyed sewing and creating her own original pieces. Spending time with her family and taking care of her children and everyone else's is what she enjoyed the most.

Queen's father, Freddie L. Blackmon, Sr., her mother, Laura Faye Blackmon, sister, Mary L. Smith, brother, Freddie L. Blackmon Jr., four children, Alexander, Erica, Alisandria, and LaToya, all preceded her in death.

Queen Ester leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Zandria D. West (Anthony) of Columbia, MO, and Anthony McGee (Latreasha) of Kansas City, MO.; three stepchildren, Alex, Chris, and Alexandria West; three brothers, Amos Knight (Sylvia), Wilbert Blackmon (Marilyn) and Travis Blackmon; five sisters, Shi Bonner, Shirley (Shelley) Webb, Martha Blackmon, Theresa (Rita) Blackmon, and Gloria (Jeanie) Derritt (Shawn). Her legacy includes 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends that were all special to her.

Memorial Services for Mrs. West will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.
