Raymond Mitchell Brown was born April 6, 1954. He was the second eldest of eight children born to the Marriage Covenant of James Mitchell Brown and Shirley Marie Brown.

Since a young age, he displayed active curiosity and excitement with the big and small things in life. Raymond believed in experiencing fun and enjoyment to the max! While spending time with his siblings they often enjoyed adventures ranging from traveling, camping, and fishing to enjoying time doing the “simple things in life.”

He served in the U. S. Army as a Stock Control and Account Specialist from 12/01/1975 to 05/08/1979. After completing his military tour, Raymond overcame a near death experience which left him in the hospital for many months. As he faced, then overcame his illness, Raymond stepped into his new life with greater zeal and purpose.

As a devout Catholic, he regularly attended Mass and events hosted by the parish. He would also assist by helping with the needs of the individuals at the parish he attended. In time, Raymond became a Catholic Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. This certification allowed Raymond to faithfully visit the hospital rooms and homes of parishioners. He would provide communion, prayer, humor, and kindness to those in need of hope.

For over 20 years, Raymond worked with great pride as a Private Duty professional. He attended to the needs of his patients with personalized care and compassion. He would often take joy in learning from and introducing his patients to new music, restaurants, and activities throughout the community.

In his downtime, Raymond would enjoy a cold beer, a Chief’s game, listening to audiobooks and/or watching a good movie, especially a western. He was often able to share about movies in a genre that would closely match what you wanted to see. He was a wiz with numbers, reciting back phone numbers and numerical codes after only hearing them once.

He was intelligent, witty, and loved a good laugh.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Brown and Shirley M. Brown; brother, Robert Brown; sister, Regina Brown; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memory siblings, Maurice, Leonard, Russell, Valerie, and Jamil; sons, Raymond Martin and Eugene Martin; granddaughter, Cierra; great- grandchildren, Judah, Ava, Grace, Uzziah; a host of nieces, including Reshida, Alicen, Erin, & Marcel; a host of nephews, including Michael & Andrew; along with his aunts, Flora Mae & Marguerite; a host of cousins, relatives, and others who dearly loved him.
