Richard Allen was born on July 20, 1929, in Kansas City, Kansas, to the union of Charles W. Allen and Thelma Kendall-Allen. He was one of nine children born to this union.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, eight of his siblings, and two sons.

Richard was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas School District. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1941. After high school, he served our country through the United States Army. He fought in the Korean Conflict.

Richard accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age.

After his military life, Richard met and married the love of his life, Grace Harrison. They were married for 48 years until her homegoing. They had a combined family of four children. Those children are Richard Allen, Jr., Kenneth Harrison, Terry Harrison, and Tony Allen.

Richard worked for the Kansas City Star as a Paper Pusher until his retirement in 1990.

Richard entered eternity on September 13, 2026.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Richard Allen, Jr. (Sheila) and Tony Allen, Sr. (Lachelle); Six grandsons, Derrick Allen, Richard Allen, III, Tony Allen, Jr., Christopher Allen, Kenneth Harrison, Jr., Shaun Harrison; Three granddaughters, April Caldwell (Michael), Tantana Dougherty (Timothy), Brandy Smith (Timothy); a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
