Ronnie Anthony Anderson was born in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Allen Anthony Anderson and Ruth Smith Anderson. Both parents preceded him in death.

Ronnie graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. He began his career with the Kansas City Fire Department on December 12, 1977.  During his 35-year career, he worked at many stations throughout the Kansas City Metro area. He landed a spot at Truck 3 at Station 10. He was promoted to F.A.O. on February 23, 1992, where he landed a spot at Station 18 on Rescue 11. On January 17, 1999, he was promoted to Captain and then placed at Station 16 where he stayed until he retired on July 28, 2012. Mr. Anderson was part of the first African American fire crew in North Kansas City and has left a lifelong legacy amongst his brother firemen. During his career with the Kansas City Fire Department, he was also a part-time driver with KCATA (Ride KC) from November 1993 until his passing.

Mr. Anderson departed this life on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memories; his loving daughter, Angela Smith (Floyd); their two sons Floyd Smith III (Tre) and Justin Smith of Bentonville AR. His former wife, Linda J. Anderson of Kansas City, MO. His brother Fred A. Anderson (Barbara) who preceded him in death. His nieces Roseanne Smith (James), Knoxville, TN, Ruth Miller (Keith), Kristin Collins (Craig) of Chicago, IL, his nephew David Anderson (Marla), and great nephew Cole, San Marino, CA; his aunt, Laura M. Anderson (Everett); cousins; Mike A. Anderson, who preceded him in death, Joan Pyles, Sharon Anderson, Antha M. Byas (Nathaniel), Charles Hardiman (Michelle) of Kansas City, MO, and a host of other loved ones, relatives, and friends.
