Rubin Lawrence Taylor, Sr. , 78, was born on Sunday, October 5th, 1947, in Hearne, Texas, to the parents of Arthurlean Carter and Sam Taylor.

Rubin was the fifth child of 14 siblings, including nine brothers and four sisters. Being the fifth child, he took on the responsibly of becoming the family barber, cutting all the boys' hair. Although born in Texas, this large and loving family eventually settled into Kansas City, Missouri, making this their home. Thankfully, in his final days, Rubin had the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior before being called home on January 8th, 2026, in which his son led him in that priceless prayer of eternal life.

Rubin received his education in the Kansas City School District and attended Central High School.

Throughout his career, he explored multiple different paths. Rubin had a natural green thumb; he loved working in his yard and gardening. His lawn work was always the best on the block. The bulk of his career was held as a driver for the Fiddley Fig Leg Florist, which he did for over 20 years. At the end of his career, he was able to serve in healthcare and worked at Raymore Rehab (Sunrise). He wore many hats there, assisting the elderly with activities and even became a personal barber to many of the residents that needed it. This is where he eventually retired in 2023.

During his prime years, he was known to be remember as a "ladies' man". TAYLOR MADE is exactly what he was, always dressed to impress with not a single hair out of place on his perfectly picked-out and patted-down AFRO. His big, warm, welcoming smile along with the famous "Taylor Gap" (his trademark) was one of the many assets that drew people to him. To know Rubin, was to know you will be in for a good ole time. Being in his presence would bring you endless laughter from his funny sense of humor and his punch line jokes. He blessed us with many beautiful memories to cherish and treasure forever.

After retirement, Rubin enjoyed spending time at home with his grandsons, Kamren and Kyree; whom he called his "main man #1" and his "main man #2".

A loving and caring husband, father, and pawpaw is who he was, making sure he always did whatever he could to provide for his family. Sunday fundays with family watching the Chiefs game was something he looked forward to doing regularly. One of his happiest memories was last year being at the Chiefs game and being able to experience the exciting atmosphere with family.

Rubin was preceded in death by his mother, Arthurlean Carter; his father, Sam Taylor; his first wife, Mae Willie White; his first-born son, Rubin Taylor, Jr.; three sisters, Ora Dean, Virginia (Jenny), and Nancy; and six brothers, Clarence (Sonny), William, Leonard, Arthur (Lee), Eugene, and Vaughn.

Rubin leaves behind to cherish in his memory his loving wife, Lillian Taylor; two sister, including Carol Chamblis of Georgia, and Alberta Jones (Will) of Kansas City, MO; four brothers, including Joe Taylor of Lubbock, TX, Carl Taylor (Frankie) of Wichita KS, Raymond Carter, and James Carter of Kansas City, MO; and a special brother and sister, Alonzo and Joann Banks.

Rubin definitely left his mark behind with a legacy that will live on forever through his nine children, Ingrid (Nikki) Taylor, Brian Taylor, Steven Taylor, Felicia Butler-Allen, Karen Taylor, Tracey Taylor, Eric (Rocky) Taylor, a stepson, Maurice Johnson; and his 1st born grandchild, Kenneth (KD) Taylor; who has always held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind to cherish 39 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He will always be remembered, loved, and deeply missed by us all. Taylor Made forever!
