Ms. Shawn Reneé Reed was born to Mr. Everett Reed and Mrs. Norma Reed on August 10, 1974, at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. She was one of four siblings: Sheila Kibble-Gibson, Lori Smith, and Loren Reed.

She attended private school in the Kansas City, Missouri area where she was a student at St. Augustine's and St. Benedicts' Elementary Schools. She graduated from The Barstow School in 1992. Shawn also attended Emory University, majoring in English. She worked in various positions throughout Kansas City, Missouri in technology.

She was baptized at Cain Grant AME Church of Kansas City, Missouri in 1974. As a child, Shawn was active in her church.

Shawnie, as she was called by her family, had a generous spirit and an everlasting love for her family, friends and people she didn't know. She was always willing to help and went out of her way to assist when or wherever need, especially when it came to strangers, like her grandmother, Phoebe.

Shawn had an overwhelming sense of love and pride when it came to her children and never missed an opportunity to express that to everyone. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

She transitioned to be with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza.

She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Reed; her uncle, Claude Kibble; cousins, Gerald McClain and Howard Pearson; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Shawn's life will forever be cherished by many. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Norma Reed of Davies, Florida; her daughters, Dejanira Jones of Kansas City, Missouri, Jailyn Reed of Kansas City, Missouri, Dana Milhouse, Kansas City, Missouri; her sons, Cameron Milhouse of Kansas City, Missouri, and Daniel Rainwater, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Kensley, Kai, Ka'Maya, Keon (Dejanira), Legend (Jailyn) all of Kansas City, Missouri; her sisters, Sheila Kibble-Gibson of Davies, Florida; Lori (Michael) Smith of Aurora, Colorado; her brother, Loren Reed of Kansas City, Missouri; her aunts, Ina Pearson of Grand Prairie, Texas and Beverly Kibble of Lee's Summit, Missouri; special friends/family, Tanika Washington, Cinnamon Washington, Alicia Benazzi; and her male friend, Tony Walker; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
