Shirita "RiRi" Roper passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at Kansas University (KU) Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born on August 27, 1978, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Benita Joyce Slaughter and Berry Edward Roper, Jr. She received her primary education at schools within the Kansas City, Missouri School District.

Shirita was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers, Carlos "Los" Slaughter and Dannon Carter; and grandson, Kingsley Roper.

Shirita gave birth to Shae Marie in June 1997 and Cierra in June 1998.

She later married Matt Lloyd and from their union, Berry (1999) and Lynnae (2001) were born.

Not only was Shirita a loving mother, grandmother, protective sister, wonderful niece, and the extremely "fun cousin" – she never met a stranger and was a friend to so many people.

Shirita was the life of every party and center of every gathering, just like her mother, "Nita." She was a great cook and was well known for her famous broccoli and cheese casserole. She was a big lover of music and had the most unique laugh that could be heard a mile away. In her spare time, Shirita enjoyed playing spades, dominoes, and spending quality time with her family. She dominated most spade games, especially when teamed with her best partner – her brother, Carlos.

Shirita is survived by her loving children, Quashae Roper, Cierra Roper, Berry Lloyd, Sr., and Lynnae Lloyd; siblings, Keyetta Roper and Dennis Martin; grandchildren, Meilani, Kairo, Jerry, Jr., Berry, Jr., Jayden, Cataleya, Ay'Dien, Sy'Mir, and KaeCi; maternal grandmother, Rachel Slaughter; paternal aunt, Fennie Roper; special friend, Regina Atkins; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends around the globe.
